Martha Pritchard Spear joins Building Bright Futures (BBF) as Senior Development Manager, bringing more than 30 years of experience in nonprofit fundraising, relationship-building, and social justice advocacy.
As Senior Development Manager, Martha leads BBF’s full fund development strategy, owning the fundraising lifecycle across foundations, individual donors, and other partners—from prospecting and proposal-writing through asking, stewardship, and reporting. She manages external communications in support of fundraising, including organizational storytelling, newsletters, and a quarterly funder briefing series, and serves as a key partner to the Executive Director and leadership team on long-term funding diversification and growth.
Martha’s career spans roles as a frontline fundraiser, executive director, board member, and independent consultant. She has a lifelong commitment to equity and to removing barriers for those who face the greatest obstacles—including children, youth, and their families. She has led capital campaigns, created grassroots fundraising programs from the ground up, and guided organizations through critical leadership transitions, always drawn to the intersection of human potential and institutional capacity.
Martha recently relocated to Burlington, Vermont, from the Adirondack Mountains of New York, where she spent 23 years. She holds a bachelor’s degree in fine arts and English from Smith College and an MBA from SUNY Oswego.
