This group focuses on monitoring Goal 4 of Vermont’s Early Childhood Strategic Plan: All Children Are Supported by a Well-Prepared, Well-Supported Early Childhood Workforce. The Workforce Advisory Group meets twice a year to review progress toward strengthening the workforce that supports children, families, and Vermont’s economy.
For this goal, the “early childhood workforce” includes providers of a broad range of services, programs, and supports for pregnant people, young children, and their families and caregivers. This includes, for example, early childhood educators, early elementary teachers, perinatal and pediatric health care providers, early childhood and family mental health providers, special educators, social workers, case managers, data stewards, and administrators.
The group examines workforce data and system conditions related to training and professional development, compensation and benefits, and recruitment and retention across sectors. Made up of public and private partners, the group identifies shared priorities and strategies to promote a stable, skilled, diverse, and well-supported workforce. Meetings are not open to the public; however, those interested in this work are encouraged to contact the committee to learn more about opportunities to get involved.
