Children Receiving Special Education and Early Intervention (Over Time)

The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) is a law that ensures access to special education and related services for eligible children with disabilities. Infants and toddlers (birth through age 2) with disabilities, developmental delays, or who are at risk of a developmental delay due to a medical condition receive Early Intervention under IDEA Part C. Children and youth ages 3 through 21 receive special education and related services under IDEA Part B.

The chart below shows the number of children receiving special education and early intervention (IDEA Part B and C) services accessed over time for children under 9.
