Child Victimization Rates

After an intake to the child abuse and neglect hotline is received and a decision is made to accept the report, an assessment or investigation is initiated. The Administration for Children and Families includes in the child victimization rate any child “for whom the state determined at least one maltreatment was substantiated or indicated; and a disposition of substantiated or indicated was assigned for a child in a report.”

The chart below shows the rate of child victimization in Vermont and nationally.
