DESCRIPTION:The BBF Families and Communities Committee is a group of parents\, guardians\, caregivers\, and professionals dedicated to improving systems and services for Vermont families and communities. Our committee is entirely virtual and open for parents and providers to join anytime. You can call in via your computer or phone\, from anywhere! All you need to do is show up with all of the knowledge and experience that you hold. \n\n\n\nWe value your time. Those who join as parents\, primary caregivers\, or guardians are eligible to be paid for their time attending and preparing for the committee at a rate of $18/hour. The Data and Evaluation Committee meets virtually about four times a year. \n\n\n\nThe Data and Evaluation Committee works toward Goal 5 of Vermont’s Early Childhood Strategic Plan: Our System Centers Children and Families and Is Coordinated\, Well-Resourced\, and Data-Driven. The committee helps ensure that data and evidence are used consistently to support better outcomes for children and families from the prenatal period through age 8. \n\n\n\nThe committee is responsible for setting priorities and tracking progress on data integration across Vermont’s early childhood system. It serves as an accountability body for monitoring progress toward all five goals of the Strategic Plan and as a primary advisor on research\, data\, and evaluation efforts. The committee brings together data stewards\, agency leaders\, and content and evaluation experts to discuss strategy\, challenges\, capacity\, and the systems needed to use high-quality data to inform policy and programs. \n\n\n\nThe committee’s current priorities include: \n\n\n\n\nServing as a primary advisory body for statewide early childhood data initiatives.\n\n\n\nAdvancing Vermont’s Early Childhood Data Development Agenda.\n\n\n\nMonitoring and guiding implementation of Vermont’s Early Childhood Strategic Plan.

VECF supports creative solutions that will improve the well-being of children from the prenatal period to age 8\, their families\, and the Vermont communities where they live. \n\n\n\nGrants will provide $10\,000–$25\,000 in funding to projects focused on systems-level improvements that strengthen food security and transportation infrastructure in communities throughout Vermont. This round of funding will distribute about $200\,000 to support Vermont’s early childhood system. Grants are open to nonprofits\, municipalities\, and schools.
