Lead poisoning is a serious but preventable health problem. Vermont requires health care providers to screen all children for elevated blood lead levels at ages one and two and provides guidance and support for children and families with elevated levels. Of note, the definition of elevated blood levels changed from >5 µg/dL to any level of detectable lead in 2022.
