The Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) score is one indicator used to measure exposure to toxic stress and childhood adversity. Of note, this measure fails to account for factors which mitigate or exacerbate toxic stress. The chart below shows the percent of children under 18 with two or more ACEs in Vermont and the U.S.
