Child and Adult Care Food Program
CACFP is a federal nutrition assistance program. The program provides cash assistance to child care providers for serving nutritious meals and snacks to children in their care.

Child Care Referral and Support Services
A Referral Specialist informs and educates parents and the community about child care options and programs. A Resource Specialist provides assistance, training opportunities and professional development to registered home providers, licensed facilities and the community, around child care related issue. Even Start
Even Start provides family centered literacy to eligible families. Even Start combines early childhood education, adult literacy and parenting education into a family centered program. Call 747-5094 for more information.

Family Infant Toddler Program
FITP recognizes the importance of early intervention services for young children who have a delay in development. You and your family know your child best and are the primary decision-makers for your child. In partnership with you, the Family Infant and Toddler Project will bring together resources to meet your child and family’s needs. Head Start
Head Start: Offers individual attention for you and your child. You will have the opportunity to learn new parenting skills and developmentally appropriate activities to do with your child. Call 775-8225 for more information.

Healthy Babies Kids and Families
A voluntary program that provides a nurse or family support worker to help families focus on their needs. Assistance is available for planning for your pregnancy & delivery; support in finding medical & dental care, answers to questions about health risks, infant care, child development & safety; community resource information & connection; finding child care & early education opportunities and information about school & work. Learning Together
Learning Together is an education program for pregnant or parenting youth under the age of twenty-two. Participants can earn their diploma or GED, as well as prepare for employment, college and/or living independently and strengthen their parenting skills. Call 775-9711 for more information.

Playgroups
A playgroup for children and their parents; come play, socialize and make new friends while learning about developmental expectations and needs for your child. The groups are free ! Call 775-9711 for more information.

Rocking Horse Circles for families living with substance abuse
If you are a mother with young children and wish to talk with others about parenting, understanding the role of substance use in family's lives, and coping with the natural stress of being a parent, then Rocking Horse Circles are for you. This guide was produced by the Rutland County Early Childhood Council in 2004 to serve as a starting point to help service coordinators and families find support services within Rutland County. It is with great excitement that the Building Bright Futures Council (formerly the ECC) updates this guide for your use.

Rutland County Parent Child Center
The Parent Child Center provides education and support to families through parenting workshops, a teen parent educational program and child care, support groups, supervised play groups, a getting ready to work program, home visits, and early development programs for young children. Call 775-9711

STARS
Step Ahead Recognition System-Stars is a Vermont initiative designed to expand the way providers are rewarded for program quality. As a provider in a regulated program, you apply for STARS recognition by completing a self assessment and submitting supporting documentation. As a STARS recognized provider, you become eligible to receive three different types of incentives: A one-time incentive payment, a higher tuition reimbursement (subsidy) payment on an ongoing basis through the Vermont child care subsidy program and an assortment of special incentives set aside for STARS providers. Women Infant and Children Program
WIC is the special supplemental nutrition program for Women Infant & Children & is for pregnant & breastfeeding women, new mothers and children up to age 5. WIC delivers healthy foods to your door like milk, juice, cereal, eggs & cheese. Call 786-5811 for more information.
