Regional Council Committees

Council committees implement the Action Plan and report progress and challenges to the Council for discussion. Committee Chairs set their own agendas, facilitate meetings, and delegate tasks, based on the approved plan of the Council. Except for the Steering Committee, committee membership is from the Council and the community.

Steering Committee - Serves as liaison with host agency and acts on time-sensitive matters, especially relating to budget questions; supports and evaluates coordinator; and makes recommendations about the Council’s structure and functioning.

Members include:AHS Field Services Director, Nursing Supervisor from the VT Department of Health, Rutland Regional Partnership for Family Servies Coordinator, Head Start, Vermont Achievement Center, Child Care Support Services, and the Rutland County Parent Child Center

Professional Development Committee – To be developed. Assesses and works to meet the professional development needs of early care and education providers in the community.

Parent Education Committee – To be developed.  Develops and disseminates awareness- raising messages and educational opportunities for parents based on topics identified in the Action Plan. Reviews and disseminates existing materials for parents and aligns them to identified messages and develops new materials as needed.

Public Awareness Committee – To be developed Raises awareness in the community about the importance of early care and education and the current state of the sector in our community. Works with state efforts to build support among the entire community for priorities identified in the Action Plan.

There are many parent networks and groups for families with children under six across Vermont and one is likely to be a good match for your level of interest, skills and time.
