Building Bright Futures Seeks Senior Research & Statistics Analyst
POSITION SUMMARY

Serves as Senior Research and Statistics Analyst to Building Bright Futures (BBF) State Advisory Council. Contributes to Vermont’s development of a comprehensive early childhood data infrastructure. Collaborates with state departments and other agencies to identify and collect data, prepare data and policy reports, analysis, and recommendations to present to the BBF State and Regional Councils, the Vermont legislature, and others. Acts as a data resource, interpreting and communicating data and its application to BBF state and regional planning, and to state and federal legislation and regulations and emerging early care and education policy and practice issues.

Vermont to Participate in Early Childhood Policy Initiative
The National Governors Association has selected Vermont, as one of only six states, to develop high-quality, comprehensive state early childhood systems through a new initiative, Ready States: A Project to Develop Key Components of State Early Childhood Infrastructure.

Building Bright Futures Legislation Passes – Governor Signs Bill

This was an important legislative session for Building Bright Futures. Senate Bill 268, now Act 104, establishes Building Bright Futures in state statute. A hearty thanks goes to the Building Bright Futures Legislative Committee, including Senator Clare Ayer (Addison) and Representative Bill Frank (Underhill), for their leadership on this bill. 

 
New Executive Director for BBF
The Building Bright Futures Council (BBFC) has hired Janice Mantell as Executive Director of Building Bright Futures (BBF) effective April 6, 2010. Prior to joining BBF, Mantell was Vice President for Field Operations, Children’s Defense Fund in Washington, D.C. and previously had been the Development Director for the Monterey Jazz Festival in Monterey, California helping to expand their jazz in the schools and other youth programs.

Early Childhood Day at the Legislature

Building Bright Futures is proud to co-sponsor the 16th annual Early Childhood Day at the Legislature with the Kids are Priority One Coalition.  The event will take place on Wednesday March 17, 2010 at the Capitol Plaza Hotel and Vermont State House in Montpelier.
