Vermont’s Building Bright Futures State Council (our state early childhood advisory council) is applying for federal stimulus funds to be used over three years to help advance Vermont’s early care and education system for children age 0 to 6. The application for these funds is due August 1st. We would like your feedback on the objectives we’ve chosen to address with these funds. To this end, we are offering two ways during the week of July 5th to offer comments:
A statewide public meeting via Vermont Interactive Television (VIT) on Tuesday, July 6, from 2-4 PM (go to www.vitlink.org/location for directions to the site nearest you);

Act 62, legislation concerning publicly funded prekindergarten education, required a written report from the Department of Education (DOE) and Department for Children and Families (DCF) commissioners to the House and Senate Committees on Education in January 2010 that included information on:
• Enrollment and costs,
• How districts were managing the “cap” on enrollment,
• A description of programs’ ability to meet the quality standards, and
• Impacts on children’s development.
